Again, some pie is better than no pie. If that's all you can do, no judgment here.
For us this is a family tradition. Every family member makes at least one pie, which means they grow up learning how. My 13-year-old has been making pie for 6 or 7 years now. Tonight he made a mixed-berry pie, with a lattice top, and did it all on his own. It looks amazing.

We obviously can't eat all that pie, not even close, so Friday night we invite a crowd over to help us out. We set up walled canopies in the front yard, get out the space heater, set up fire bowls outside, and spread out the leftover pie. My kids have been inviting their friends, we invite ward members, I invite people from work who couldn't go home for the break, etc. It's a really fun tradition that people seem to really like.
