Because the teams that were supposed to be good weren't and the teams that were
not supposed to be good were very good. BYU and ASU were supposed to be among the bottom 3 teams in the conference. Utah, Ok State, and Kansas were supposed to be vying for the conference championship. Instead BYU and ASU are at the top while Utah and Ok State are practically winless in conference games.
