Rovaniemi: Korouoma falls if you can, and more!
if you have a way to get there, hike Korouoma falls clockwise. Wear microspikes or similar if you can (but it's doable without you'll just have to be careful in a couple places or just be ok with a small low consequences slip and slide or two). Bring sausages to cook at the lavvu near the end.

Northern lights tours are generally a rip off, in our experience. If it's not cloudy and you want to see the northern lights (assuming they are out) drive out the horse track outisde of town. We also spotted them from the Prisma parking lot. We lived there for a month in March and saw the northern lights twice. It was cloudy most of the time.

Our favorite restaurant in Rovaniemi was Hanki which is a Korean place. Dinner at the ice hotel outside of town was worth the drive. Fancy dinner at Apukka was expensive and kind of ok.

Santa's village is the tourist trap you'd expect it to be. But don't forget to buy a Christmas ornament if you go. We forgot. And we regretted that next Christmas.

Hiking up to the look out tower for sunsent on Ounasvaara was easy and fun and there's a laavu for cooking sausages near by. Fat tire biking on Ounasvaara is great when the conditions are right and you can rent bikes at SantaSport and just ride from there.

Attend sacrament meeting in Rovaniemi if you can. They'll appreciate the bump in numbers :). We took attendance from 12 to 15 while we were there. Seriously though, it's a committed and faithful group of Latter-day Saints.
