I think it comes from an underlying tension with BYU’s culture and being owned by the church.
I shouldn’t say it’s all our opponents. Mostly with those that have a significant LDS population in their communities. Doesn’t really come out with teams in the Midwest or East.
I don’t know how to stop it. Or if it ever will. But BYU not reacting and staying above the muck is the best strategy. Sataki did an amazing job contrasting himself with the embarrassment that is the ASU coach. I’d think that says something to the unbiased observer watching all this.
Utah and ASU have show that the hate seethes from coaches, fans, employees. Even the AD.
