He played in 6 games as a backup as a true freshman. He started to get more playing time in 2014, but was eventually benched for a walk on Skye Povey. He was very vocal about the injustice about being benched for a walk on and decided to transfer after that season. He was so jaded about it that he gave the double bird to the BYU crowd in USU-BYU game and has been feuding with BYU fans ever since.
