Definitely an overreaction and I’m sure the coaches are probably beating
themselves up enough over it. But 2 specific plays stick out:
1. (Maybe not on the coaches) They ran a WR in motion and snapped the ball, hit the receiver and the other team recovered. (Maybe just poor execution and bad luck) but 5 minutes left, if anything run 3 power runs just to burn clock and punt it away. I think their RB had over 200 yards in the game and he couldn’t be stopped. This would have ran more time and with a punt would have made them go a lot further for their first TD to cut it to 14

2. In their last possession in regulation they threw the ball, incomplete pass and stopped the clock again. One of those things where it’s great if it’s complete and you get a first down but if you don’t, well…

Those are just the 2 off the top of my head. I’m sure someone can do the math but if a team is down 21 with less than 5 minutes left and has 1 time out left the chances of them winning have to be incredibly small if the team with the lead just runs the ball and punts

This was all done without an onside kick recovered

Overreaction that an apology is owed but what a brutal way to lose a state championship after 100 or so years of never winning one
