Great choice. Pointer breeds are fantastic.
Definitely crate train… not as a punishment but as their safe place.

If you’re already neck deep in research not much I can add. But pointers want to be with their person/people. A good way during puppyhood is to tether the puppy to you when you are home. They’ll learn to look to you for cues on when and where to move.

Also, recall is probably the most important command to teach a pointing breed.
