primary argument for an event is that it played a part in the backstory / lead up to several other events, I feel like we're kind of admitting that the other events are more important.

I mean, Luke wouldn't have blown up the Death Star if Strom Troopers hadn't killed his aunt & uncle. That doesn't mean the Storm Trooper attack was more important than blowing up the Death Star.
