Ghost of Peanut Intervention Needed
It was pure luck for Kansas. Happens. We should have easily been able to
withstand it, though.

The three fully controllable plays that would have made a big difference:

- Kalani not calling TO when he saw his defense clearly in a state of confusion leading up to the Kansas 4th down conversion that lead to their FG. Decent chance that Kansas would have mulled it over, lost their nerve, and sent out the punt team afterwards as I've seen lots of teams do after a defensive TO. Either way, deciding to ride with a clearly confused defense on a critical play was inexcusable.

- The fade. First off, stop calling a play that we suck at. Second, why? With plenty of time and plenty of time outs, why? Even if we didn't suck at that play, why even call a jump ball play that even if thrown perfectly stands a not so insignificant chance of being picked off?

- 3rd and goal, final drive. Running the clock was a nicety. Scoring was paramount. 3rd and goal, they're guessing we want to run clock, meaning they are selling out against the run. Play action pass to the TE will be wide open every single time. Yes, it would have given Kansas the ball with just under 2 minutes. So what? Outside of one drive, their offense sucked the entire game. The most likely outcome would have been our D holding them to nothing. The second most likely outcome would have been a FG and OT. Get the freaking points and don't even let it get to 4th down.

The punt was unlucky, but it's not what lost us the game.
