Chase talked about it in the post-game.
He said the defender was lined up inside. He maybe could have tried to go deeper around him but “cut across his face” instead.
Chase said he wanted to see the film to see if he should have gone in back of the defender
IMHO, he wouldn’t have had time to go around. Kansas got to Jake very quickly with a 4-man rush. Any longer to run the route and Jake would have been hit.
