Robinson understands as good as anyone on our team the importance of corralling a loose ball in that position — as QUICKLY & as STRONGLY as possible. He knows dang well that more hands are coming, & from his vantage he can't be so conceited as to think someone won't indeed get a finger on it before he does. He also knows that a ball like that is sure to end in a huge scrum, so getting hands-on-ball is just the beginning.
I'm sure Robinson is even more upset with himself on how ineffective he ultimately was on that play. But you CAN'T say that he didn't try to secure that ball as QUICKLY & as STRONGLY as possible. He did both. To a fault.
