I totally agree with you. The coaching staff needs to take a significant hit for this one. Perhaps almost even a bit of over-confidence that the first down or a TD were almost a given until that penalty pushed them back. I think that the correct play was probably>> take a shot at the end zone on 1st down. They could have lined up with 3 or 4 wides and taken a shot at an edge of the end zone or have a check-down to get up very close to the 1st down marker. At least one safe-throw attempt on the edge on either first or 2nd down .. ya I never played the game but that's my best arm-chair for this hour of the AM. LOL
