Reminds me of when I took my then 8 year old son to the Holy War in 2008.
He had the same experience and we left in the 3rd quarter after a bunch of drunk Ute fans were yelling really vile stuff about child abuse to him. I nearly got into a fist fight and he was in tears so we just left. We got multiple F BYU and F Mormons hurled at us before we made it back to our car. I haven’t set foot in RES since.
