The media does not value coaches who improve over time. It's the coaches that get hired and make splashes that matter.
Immediate success is valued like 8000x more than gradual or consistent success. That's why Jerry Sloan never won anything. That's why Kalani isn't on anyone's radar. Every one of those coaches got hired after 2022.
