2) go into the startup apps, and disable anything that isn't essential--which will be most of the apps in there.
3) download CCleaner, and just use the free version. Run that to clean up your system, including registry.
4) you can also use CCleaner to get a report of drivers that need to be updated. You have to pay for the version that actually updates them, but with the list, you can update manually.
(Uninstall CCleaner when done because the constant update requests are annoying)
That should speed it up a lot, but if you're still having issues, you may want to check for malware. Malwarebytes free version is usually a good one to try.
