for just pinning their ears back and coming hard into the backfield, and going hard at the edge. Quick hitters for 5-6 yards a pop have way of punishing a "D" coordinator for coming that hard play after play. Or, give Jake a big TE body to throw to right on the numbers, as he uses that body to shield his defender 5-7 yards out, just over the LOS. I think these plays are missing from our play book far too much.
Sometimes I love the play calling, how they mix it up, and throw in some fun trick plays. But then, sometimes I'm kinda perplexed when Arod won't do more over the middle when it is clearly the best strategy. And if I can see it, I surely think DC's can see it, and know that Arod is reluctant to go over the middle. BYU will not be able to approach what they are capable of offensively until he does, and is willing to go more North / South than he is to go East / West.
