And even then, they were already struggling—one of the few automakers that always had inventory, even during the pandemic.
I was never that impressed with Infiniti (I feel like their run in the mid/late 2000s had more to do with German automakers falling asleep at the wheel than making objectively excellent cars) but they lost their way, lost market share, and now can't really afford to do anything but blatant badge-swapping.
It's a short-term play (I guess that Infiniti can sell to rental fleets as the cheaper "luxury" option for a few more years) but I expect that they'll be defunct by 2030.
