I think we were reasonably ready. Our WRs got open and made plays, whereas in the past this position group has been completely locked down at times and struggled to contribute.
We should be ready for Utah. With the number of defensive staff on our sideline that coached there under Whittingham, we should have had every advantage in terms of knowing their stylistics and scheme. If we can't prepare for the Utes, I don't know who we can prep for.
I didn't think we were out schemed so much as their dudes on D just whupped the tails of our O way too often in one on one matchups, particularly in the trenches. But we emerged victorious. We win. The Utes lost. Scoreboard is really a great comforter.
That said, I hope the O wakes up anything but comfortable today. But for a few epic plays and a kicker with nerves of steel at the very end, they did not acquit themselves well at Rice Eccles. This week, KU brings an explosive and capable offense to town that is coming into its own. The BYU O needs to clicking and firing on all cylinders at LES on Saturday. I hope that's what we're about to see.
