Spoiler, spoiler
No one really knows since there are conflicting reports from Costner and Sheridan. But Costner decided he didn't want to do Yellowstone anymore. He wanted to concentrate on his what he thinks are epic Westerns "Horizon" movies (filmed in southern Utah) and other projects he's got going.

He wanted Sheridan to reduce his role on Yellowstone and work around his busy schedule. Sheridan didn't want to do that. He wanted Costner to finish the Season 5 episodes but wasn't giving Costner a schedule he could live with. So Costner told Sheridan he was out. Noticed Costner is show as an executive producer in the credits so maybe has something to do with the show still. Or maybe not, don't know.

I just happened to watch the episode tonight, didn't even know it was on. At the very start of it John Dutton (Costner) is found dead in the Governor's mansion. Later in the episode it has some wicked woman setting up his suicide with a professional killer. Then later she is talking about it with son Jamie who she apparently has an affair going with and they more or less conspired to kill his father. I don't know just what her relationship to anything is or what the reason they set up John Dutton's suicide.

I don't know how the last episode of Season 5 ended so I was kind of lost on what the characters were doing and what was going on in the episode tonight. Some of the cowboys go to Texas for whatever reason. Some of them stay in Montana but have nothing to do. I don't get it. The cowboys go to a 6666 ranch in Texas that Sheridan apparently owns in real life, or partly owns anyway.

The cowboys herd cattle and ride around on horses for about 5 minutes and decline suggestions they sleep in a hotel or in the bunkhouse saying they want to sleep in "teepees" or tents they brought with them. That seems nuts. Out on the ground in a tent in the heat, humidity and wind in Texas. One of them promptly gets bit by a scorpion. I don't get it.
