…struggled with last year were teams with multiple PG’s who were good off the bounce and played downhill. This is why UCR was able to stay with us and keep coming back when we tried to open the game up.
They have scrappy guards who are good off the bounce and get downhill. They can find spaces in the mid-range and hit shots or get to the rim. We had a difficult time staying in front of them just like we did vs the Duquesne guards, Texas Tech guards, etc. They just put their heads down and kept taking us off the bounce and if we brought in help defenders to stop the penetration they kicked it out to wide open shooters.
The UCR game shows us we still have a lot of work to do there.
