Utah was emerging as BYU’s equal at that point, having notched a couple close wins and one dominant victory the year before in Provo.

We all know how it’s gone since. These days, Utah normally fields the deeper, more talented roster. There are guys who never considered BYU and plentiful head to head recruiting wins, even high profile transfer from BYU up and down their roster.

I hate all of this but will call it what it is.

It’s a completely different game than it used to be. And it’s time we whupped them 1996 style.
