In Western first world nations a new developmental period had emerged: "Emerging Adulthood". It describes the ages of 18-30 where young adults still display developmental characteristics of adolescents despite biological characteristics of adulthood.

It is interesting that it is only in western first world nations. It is a luxury afforded to adults who aren't forced by the world around them to mature.
