swan song season. He had his best team, most talent ever. His best ever QB was finally coming back from injury. His B12 schedule was predicted to be a cake walk. Even if they stumbled once, the new CFP format all but guaranteed Utah would be in it. This was to be his masterpiece season, after which he'd turn a great program over to his ultimate protege and official HC in waiting, Morgan Scalley.
And now he's looking at possibly the worst season of his career (barring a miracle turnaround, which he has done before). His offense is in complete shambles. They don't even dominate the LOS, which has been a Utah hallmark even in extra terrible offensive years. His only decent OC of his entire HC career just left. His QB room looks like it needs another complete makeover. There are talent needs heading into next season all across the board.
The question is, does he retire anyway, go out a loser, and leave Scalley a mess to cleanup? Or does he attempt once more to build an offense from scratch, a task he has had to do all too often due to his propensity to chase OCs away?
