State of CO just went to "free" lunch for all kids at elementary school. It's
awesome. Makes life so much easier. Barely costs a little more in food quantity/prep. More than made up for in the fact that you can throw out all the bookkeeping about whose income is low enough to qualify. We already pay for teachers and education anyway with public tax money, what's adding on a little food at mid-day? Makes it more likely kids get to school on time and you won't have to deal with empty bellies or negative balance accounts for kids that forgot their lunch. Kids less likely to just eat junk they rushed into a bag on the way out the door, and they get healthier options. No more hounding of negligent parents like you (I kid!!), so that's yet another cost savings.

It's a win-win-win-win-win. Every elementary school in the country should do this. In fact, why not middle school too. Can't think of a reason.
