The rules state that if at any point in a multi team tie a team advances, it becomes a two way tie between the remaining teams and you evaluate the two way tiebreaker rules.

And also, even for a multi team tie you still evaluate common opponents first, it’s just that the only common opponent is Kansas, so yeah if we lose to Kansas we are toast
