BYU made the following statement last year:

The biggest change is that live game broadcasts of soccer, women’s volleyball, men’s and women’s basketball, gymnastics, softball and baseball are no longer be on BYUtv. The majority of these matchups will now air via ESPN+.

With BYU’s admittance into the Big 12 Conference, our media rights now fall under the conference’s purview. The Big 12 media rights deal specifies that all second-tier media rights now go to ESPN+. Previously, these went to BYUtv. Media rights deals are negotiated at the conference level and provide substantial funding to BYU Athletics. While we understand that some are saddened to not be able to have the same level of access to game broadcasts as they have in the past, it is a reality that we face, now being in an Autonomy 5 conference, that provides BYU Athletics with a myriad of important benefits.
