Tip: the response is easy to remember because it is identical to the initial greeting.

Alabama can do it. Auburn can do it and their greeting makes no sense and its connection to their school and history is totally convoluted. And yet, everyone in the world knows how to say "War Eagle" and to respond "War Eagle." I have worn an Auburn shirt and said, "War Eagle," myself and it was very satisfying. (This was under circumstances that made sense at the time.)
