In the LockedOnBYU podcast a while back, Connor Pay talked about why he doesn’t

use them. He claimed that they increase the rate of injury (per some research he cited) and limit mobility.

Limits mobility. There’s a reason hardly any NFL linemen wear them.

Yep. Same reason they don’t wear cups or knee pads anymore. Pads in the girdle are a lot thinner.
