If it was, I don't think it would be a bad investment
If AJ comes, he is going to bring so many eye balls and so much publicity to BYU and by extension, the church. Throughout his NBA career (likely superstar career), people will be mentioning constantly that he went to BYU.
With that said, they would never use tithing money and there are plenty of reasons why they shouldn't.
