Yeah Coach K pretty much always limited Duke to 1-2 one and done's because he wanted to develop players to fit his system. Kentucky was kind of the opposite where they had one and done's coming off of the bench.

If I had a nickel for every basketball team I supported over the years who got a coach K and were national contenders I'd have two nickels which isn't a lot but it's weird that it happened twice.

The issue with Duke and maybe this changed after Coach K but unless it's a conference game or March Madness they're not going to go 100%. Because the ACC at least use to be very cannibalistic and they needed to preserve there energy for conference play.
