That depends. Might be true for periods, but exclamation points (multiple) are required in other instances
My kids tell me they know I'm mad if I reply to a text with just, "ok"
What's even worse than that is if I text, "sure"
I have to coddle them with a, "Sure!!" in order for them to receive it well.
