If you're flying from SLC it's unusual to find a direct flight to LGA. JFK has construction at the Delta terminal which
sometimes makes getting an Uber into the city time consuming (need to take a shuttle to the Uber lot).
So, I'd recommend EWR if coming from SLC. (I flew into EWR this morning)
