UU fans’ depression is a combo of a few things:
1- expectations (B12 champs) vs reality (they suck)
2- public humiliation from the fact that they talked themselves up for the past year and now have to eat a whole lot of crow
3- BYU is undefeated and getting all of the accolades and respect that they thought would be coming their way.
