I haven’t watched the game on tape to confirm, but I suspect the game plan was
to have the DE crash and take the RB, and then have a linebacker scrape behind them and take the QB.
And I suspect that OSU was either out-executing us or doing something schematically to get the LB blocked and make the linebacker scrape part not happen.
I don’t think that 5th year seniors Batty and Bagnah just forgot how to slow play a read option suddenly against OSU, if that was their assignment.
