My understanding is that a lot of eating disorders start with the person losing a lot of weight and getting complimented about it. I guess that somehow leads to excessive weight loss. I'm not a psychologist, so I'm not sure I understand why or how that works, but this would provide an easy way for them to continue losing weight.
