People gradually switched when the Jazz came to Utah, but it took a few years
My history teacher in Jr. High had a board in the back of his room that listed various students' favorite college, NFL, MLB, and NBA teams. I was the only kid who listed the Utah Jazz as his favorite NBA team. The most popular picks were the 76ers, Celtics, and the Lakers.
By the time I was a junior in high school, everyone seemed to love the Jazz.
I graduated from high school in '88.
