Going from Bangerter <-> I-80 on I-15 it CAN save you time.. but it really depends on the day.
I have a 'Clean Vehicle Pass'... Most days it will save ~5 to 10 minutes. The problem is, some idiot will always go slow just because the other lanes are going slow.
When the HOV lane is moving faster you have to watch out for the other idiots who swing out into the HOV lane forcing you to slam on your breaks (and then slowing down the HOV lane).
