Several years ago Kalani was at my ward for James Empey's mission homecoming
he was gracious and kind as always. I asked him if we we were finally going to beat Utah that year. He said: "yeah, we're gonna beat those guys and when we do we'll be humble about it." The clear implication was that our rivals are not humble or gracious in victory. It took a few years for him to deliver on that promise, but I admire the "hungry and humble" mantra - he lives it.

At the CC luncheon Kalani talked about how much he loves McDonalds. That if you offered him a Big Mac, even after a huge Thanksgiving meal, he would still gladly eat it. He likened it to the team: after you string together some wins, it's completely natural for that hunger to diminish. That is the challenge for this team to overcome: stay hungry (and humble) despite your success; avoid complacency
