He has apparently been struggling with a severe mental block since the knee injury. Can't focus, can't throw, plays scared and doesn't remember how to even throw the ball. The description given to me sounds like PTSD. Wouldn't be the first time an athlete has struggled mentally to the point of collapse following a serious injury. I think whatever this ankle injury is providing perfect cover for Cam to move on from football without them having to put him through any further public humiliation.
