Honestly, I think it's a mindset and momentum issue more than anything. Wild card teams are often fighting for the last

spots and then they have to turn around and play in a wild card series while the division champs sit around and watch. Sure, the teams are doing "practice" games, but the other teams are surviving and playing their best games. I think it's just the hunger and the drive.
