I've purchased a number of gold coins and bars from Costco, just in the last 3
months. So far, their value has increased by 12% so I'm not mad about it.

What will I do with them? Likely they will be passed on to my kids, just like the Krugerrands my dad left for his 4 kids. I don't ever plan on selling them, unless (as has been posted) I need to shave off a little corner to buy bread for my squirrel meat sandwiches.

There are stocks that I own I never plan on selling either, but if the world collapses there is surety that those stocks will be worth nothing, at least maybe a piece of gold will get me something. In the meantime they've appreciated faster than stocks. There is something that feels good about holding an investment in your hand and feeling it's weight. Overall, the gold I have represents about .002% of my net worth.

Plus, it's kind of fun. I've never had satisfaction looking at a computer screen showing my stock purchase.
