I liked the old Bourne made for TV version with Richard Chamberlain and Jaclyn

Smith. Even though he was a trained assassin, he wasn't the one-man-wrecking-crew who could take out 6 armed police at once armed only with a ball-point pen. He was more cerebral and seemed more disconnected with the world as a result of his amnesia.

Yeah, it drops off for sure, but the first three books are incredible.
