Miami was selected and anointed the ACC team for the playoff. The ACC and their officials know that the conference hangs by a thread.

They absolutely need an undefeated champion, and ideally TWO teams in the CFP, or else the conference is in deep deep trouble.

SO, Miami gets reviews going their way two weeks in a row.

The Refs are human. They know what is at stake. And the make reviews based on that.

It had all the indicators for targeting ... but that would have almost certainly ended the game. (Only almost because, as Cal showed just second later, they are capable of allowing ~80 plays when in prevent defense!)
