Let me simplify it for you - inferior programs compare themselves to other programs to try to find their own value. Superior programs don't. Until 1994 BYU fans couldn't care less what the U was up to because we thumped them every year (except for '88, but I was on my mission and didn't hear about it for weeks after the fact, so as far as I'm concerned it didn't happen). BYU was the standard that Utah was always trying to compare with. We now live in a fallen world where I keep seeing posts trying to find some new way we're better than the U, when in reality, the only thing that really matters between us and the U is scoreboard, which they own right now. BYU will have arrived back to their "glory days" of success when we stop measuring meaningless stats to try and find some way we're "better" than Utah, other than the scoreboard. That's all.
