Japan Coug Intervention Needed
I think that, generally, people in the US and the West treat individual Russians
just fine, as long as they aren't anti-Ukrainian or outspoken supporters of Putin, or government representatives. After all, many Russians (most of the one who I personally know) oppose Putin and the invasion of Ukraine.

Still, it might get interesting if BYU plays a team with a Ukrainian player; not sure if there are any on the schedule, or even in D1 basketball. But if it did happen, it might make for an interesting story.
