I think they still stand a decent shot at getting in now that the Padres have absolutely nothing left to play for, but both NY and ATL now have a mulligan game as they both own the tie break over Arizona.
Today and tomorrow will be interesting. Everything went right for the Braves yesterday with NY, AZ, and the Twins all losing. The Twins losing means KC locked up their WC spot and now have a lot less to play for. The Brewers and Padres are now both fully locked into their playoff spots, giving them both a lot less to play for.
KC does still have the chance to move up to the 5 seed. No idea if that's what they want. Facing either Baltimore or Houston doesn't feel all that much different to me.
I forget if they still give preference to being a division champ in the NLCS. I think it just goes by record at that point and if so, the Brewers and Padres still have potential home field to fight over should that match up materialize in the NLCS.
Odds are, however, that KC, SD, and Milwaukee now start making pitching decisions based on getting their best arms rested up for the WC round.
