If south end of Utah Lake feels too far for you, then Eureka is going to be a bit further, but could still be worth it as that is a place that certainly gets you outside of the light polluted dome of Utah/Salt Lake County.
If you go out in a couple weeks, you'd have a great view of what may well be the brightest comet of our lifetime and would be a treat among treats to be able to point your telescope at.
I actually plan to be down at Capitol Reef for that one.
