Agreed; just went to Oklahoma St last week and they were great hosts...but not really intimidating, raucous, or crazy
This was last week when my brothers and I took my dad (a Utah alum living in North Texas) to his first Utah game in probably a decade+, just since there hadn't been many near where he now lives.

And Stillwater was a fine town, the fans were great and friendly, the stadium was very nice - I only have good things to say about the experience. But it was never really raucous or energized or overwhelming or crazy.

Maybe that's an exception - it was 100 degrees after all and Utah's style of play also often has the tendency to kind of suck the energy out of a crowd. But I compare it to the last Utah game I went to (2014 @Stanford; lived in California at the time and had friends who were die-hard Utah fans) and I honestly wouldn't say Oklahoma St had a noticeably better home-field advantage than Stanford did.

That's based on one-game at each location, so it's a huge caveat and mostly anecdotal, meaning you should absolutely take it with a major grain of salt. I'll also point out that was back when Stanford was very good, so the environment today probably isn't what it was back then. But my experience (while a great experience) didn't necessarily have the energy I would have expected from Oklahoma St
