You will have no problem with getting a lender to give you a loan for a home in most parts of the country. Outside of the sunbelt though, you will not have much left over unless you choose to go the condo or townhome route. Even then, choose wisely. HOA fees have risen rapidly in the west and make owning these just as expensive as a starter home if you don't pay attention.
