It costs money to develop drugs. The only reason we have amazing innovations like Ozempic is because of the motive for profit.
So we have a choice:
- Have amazing, innovative drugs that help millions of people and enable companies to reap the profits from selling those drugs
- Not have amazing, innovative drugs because we don't want companies to make a profit
The second somebody somebody uses the "They put profits over patients" line about a company that spends tens of billions of dollars on R&D - most of that for drugs that will never end up being sold on the market - I automatically tune them out. That person doesn't understand basic economic principles.
